Twin Rockets Petronas Twin Towers Review

Although Kuala Lumpur is not Petronas Towers only, the twin towers have become a landmark highly associated with Malaysia.

Built in the 80's by Petronas Oil as their corporate office and once the world's tallest building (it is now 2nd only to Taiwan's Taipei 101), it opened its doors to the public a few years later as a viewpoint of the city. Although it has more than 80 floors, visitors are allowed only upto the 42nd floor where the bridge that connects the 2 towers is located. This bridge serves as the view deck.

Entrance to the towers is free, but limited and follows a time schedule. Fearing the long queue, I decided to skip going up and just content myself with craning my neck to view the towers from the ground.

Directions: You won't miss it as it scrapes the sky of KL. Take the LRT Putra line and get off at KLCC.

KL Tower, as it is popularly known, is the 4th tallest telecom tower in the world at 421 meters. It has a banquet deck, a revolving restaurant, and an observation deck.

The mega view banquet deck is a venue for private functions, while the revolving resto caters to diners at a meal cost of RM66. But, if you are like me who is just after the view, go up to the observation deck for RM15. The fee includes the use of audio guide and binoculars.

And what a view! The circular deck gives you a 360 degree view of the whole KL...and beyond... The audio guide has 12 stops and each one highlights areas of interest on the ground below. Guess, it is the easiest and fastest way to tour KL on foot.

The tower is open daily from 9am to 10pm.
