Vilanculos, the Bazaruto Archipelago and Inhassoro make up the tourism heart of Mozambique. The area is connected to the south by a newly constructed tarred road and you will be amazed how many pot holes that they have been able to fit in to virtually every square inch of this road!!!!!
If you plan to visit one destination in Mozambique this string of islands should be it. The main ones are Santa Carolina, Bazaruto, Benguerra and Magaruque. They offer a quintessential tropical holiday with isolated palm and casuarinas tree shaded beaches, rich tropical reefs and clear warm water .
During low tide many white sandy islands pop up, covered in shells. Six hours later they will be ten meters underwater again. Legend has it that the Portuguese disposed of prisoners this way, by dropping them off on a beautiful deserted island.
- Pros:A very beautiful part of the world.
- Cons:Very isolated.
- In a nutshell:Isolated but beautiful area with surprisingly good services.

i never made it up to Bazaruto but it was a notable destination thru the years ;-)))
excellent page Kev, wouldn't mind doing a Dhow safari right now...pretty cold in CHCH.
When I lived in SA we used to live not very far from Mozambique, pity I never made it there. It looks absolutely stunning, I have to go there on my next visit to SA... Amazing pictures!!
What a stunning trip Kevin! Gorgeous photo's...Happy travels, Blu
An amazing spot you have found here Kevin!! It looks like heaven to me, complete with cold beer!! A great page on a place you don't hear very much about!!
A night with Anne wasn't worth an xtra $20, Kev? I'm surprised you didn't find yourself in a single for a while. Also, I'll never complain to pay $1.50 for half a liter of cold beer. BTW, the brew rocks in Namibia, too. German influence. See you in June!
i'm so hoping to go there in july
Great page, Kevin! You chose nice place to visit!
Sigh...why is it that women have to know more about cooking than men do?! This looks like a very relaxing place...I can't get over how blue the water looks in the pics. Thanks.
