I left my heart...

My home, my heart

SF's heart is here
see my city depicted via a painted heart, a true San Francisco original.
bridge over SF bay

Golden Gate bridge

a famous landmark, an entry point for every vessel that is bound for the port of SF and Oakland. It is really rust colored and has pedestrian walkway on one side and a bike lane on the other sice. On the northern end is part of the county of Marin. The SF bay is beautiful from this vantage point high above the hills in the Presidio.

The Ferry Building

Another San Francisco landmark that survived the 1906 earthquake (and the succeeding ones) still serves as "the ferry building" where one can board one of the ferry services to Vallejo. The interior is now a spiffed up commercial enclave of culinary delights. Since it is right on the water along the Embarcadero, it naturally attracts local and tourists alike. I go there for the Saturday Farmers' market and for the superb Vienamese cuisine at Slanted Door. Sur de Table is another source of delight for the home chef. You can't miss it when you are visting SF. Very easy to get to, via one of those respored trams of the modern railway service that runs along the Embarcadero.

Pros:"very "European feel" has seven hills flanked by the bay and ocean, clean air"
Cons:"the fog in the summertime, the homeless problem visible in some parts of town"
In A Nutshell:"never miss this city when you are traveling to the west coast USA"
