Delightful village.

Beg-Meil is a small town/village in southern Brittany. It has a variety of shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, tabacs, etc.in its main street. The village is surrounded by open countryside and larger towns such as Quimper and Fouesnant are nearby. There's a fabulous market in Fouesnant. It was selling all the usual local produce, crafts, etc.,and several stalls had cages and baskets of chickens and rabbits.Kids thought these were lovely and that they were for sale as pets.Unfortunately I caught sight of a rabbit being weighed and realised that they were for the pot!I couldn't tell the kids that!
Beg-Meil has a little harbour and jetty where one can watch the lobster and crab catch being brought in daily by the fishing boats.
The beach is white sand. The bay is protected from the winds that can blow there, by rocky hillsides and many trees. The hilltop walk through the trees and shrubbery is reminiscient of the Dorset coast in England, and is a pleasant cooling stroll to take when the sun gets too hot to be on the beach. There are quite stunning,if small-scale, rock formations in the bay.
Many lovely walks can be taken in the area, through fields and woods.
