Albufeira = Al-Buhera | Main beach of Albufeira at sunset |
Al-Buhera is the arabic name of Albufeira, which means "castelo do mar" (=castle of the ocean)
There's a lot of history in every little corner of this touristic city.
Nowadays it's just too focused on tourism...walking there in autumn was good, because we didn't find many tourists....we did find lots of English, Australian, German and so on who visited and stayed in Albufeira.
The restaurants have menus in all the languages and food from everywhere.
The nightlife in Albufeira is very famous in the Algarve. There is a street where all the bars and discos are...the only problem is: they are all fokused on english tourists. Every little bar and disco has a television...and well..in my opinion they should invest more in showing the tourists how the portuguese like to party...but that's their tourism strategy and me, still as a tourism student, am not going to influence that now :) |

| | very international place We stayed there for 3 nights and loved it...we enjoyed walking through the beaches, the nightlife, people, weather (the first day was very rainny:), something that has a probability of about 10% - we weren't sooo lucky..hehe..) |
