Restaurant Name: The Lemon Tree

This lovely restaurant is in the heart of the historical town of Bishops Stortford. Their website shows the range of dining services and the typical menus available.

We spent an enjoyable Sunday lunchtime here and all 4 in our party thoroughly enjoyed their choices!

Our only gripe was that the service was a little slow and disorganised even though the restaurant was not packed and they kept forgetting to bring things (such as sauces and even the veg!!) so we then had to keep trying to get their attention which was rather annoying! Fortunately we were in no great hurry anyway so no big deal!

Onsite parking is available to the rear and there is wheelchair access too.

Favorite Dish: For starters I had crispy salt & pepper prawns and mayo which was very good, and for main course I had roast rib-eye of beef which was done to perfection accompanied by a large yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes. A good selection of fresh veg was served separately. Sounds like a familiar Sunday lunch but as the restaurant advertises, there was a 'modern' touch to this traditional dish!

For dessert, yes I had just enough room, I had a trio of chocolate puddings (see pic) which really was as good as I had hoped it would be. A small jug of cream would have made it just perfect, but again, nobody was hovering around to ask and I couldn't wait to tuck in!

Pizza - mmmmmmm!!!

Restaurant Name: Zizzi

My second visit to a Zizzi restaurant in less than 2 weeks since discovering the first one in London! (Have since been to my third in Milton Keynes - all 3 within a month!!)

They just keep getting better - but if I had to, I wouldn't be able to choose a favourite between them!

Favorite Dish: Between 4 of us, we tried a salad, and 2 different pizzas (2 in the party had the tempting 'special' that was on offer that night.)

Zizzi is a chain of Italian restaurants - having many branches in the UK. They seem to have got the knack of adding slightly unusual ingredients to their dishes without scaring customers off!! On one of our pizzas fennel seeds were added, and on the other a generous covering of fresh rocket leaves - both with delicious results!

Having had the apple pie with cinnamon ice-cream and seen the chocolate tart desert, they both come highly recommended as a perfect finale to a night at Zizzi's!!
