A Pretty Little Town With A Lot To Offer!

Belem is easily reached by train or tram from Lisbon. Just 6 km away but very different to Lisbon. Trains from Cais do Sodre station are frequent & inexpensive.

If arriving by train, you will be surprised at how many monuments & grand structures you can see all around you as you reach Belem - they are all quite a walk from each other so although it's a small town, don't expect to cover Belem in under 1 hour! We visited for just a few hours, so we did not give this town the full attention it deserves. But, we had a lovely time here all the same! There are several restaurants, parks to rest a while & of course the famous 'Pasteis de Belem' for coffee & a custard tart - (see my tip)!

Pros and Cons

Pros:Can easily be fitted in to your schedule on a trip to Lisbon
Cons:As with Lisbon - many places of interest are closed on Mondays!
In a nutshell:Try to also visit Belem if you get to Lisbon!

See you got it!exactly what i was wanting to get to Belem for -havent yet but here they are on yr pages!lovely shots to emphasise!have had those tarts in Macau but almost drove from Obidos specially for Belem's,got some in Viana next trip instead!
