I have been to Lanzarote 6 times since 1993. Puerto Del Carmen is the largest resort on the island and in my opinion the best one to stay in! (I made the mistake of staying in Costa Teguise for a fortnight a few years ago, and ended up catching buses back to P del C most days! It just didn't have the same attraction eg. lovely scenery, cleanliness, good choice of shops and restaurants, etc.)
The beach in P del C is huge, clean and a scenic view of mountains to one side. Even when very busy, there is always space for a few more towels! There are a few showers and toilets in a block centrally placed, for which there is no charge. Also in the block is a First Aid point. All the usual amenities like pedaloes and sunbeds can be easily found.
The main road through the resort runs alongside the entire length of the beach, though slightly higher up. Walking along on the beach side it is pleasantly clean with well tended beautiful tropical plants, trees and flowering shrubs along the whole length of the 'prom'. On the other side is an endless selection of shops, restaurants, bars, amusements etc. |

Well done. | RickinDutch Sat Nov 18, 2006 00:18 UTC Excellent tips, especially for a foodie. Never been, but looks worthwhile to get a little sun. Mostly Brits on holiday? |
