    • Everywhere is beautifully decorated for the Christmas season. All the big hotels seem to compete with one another and all the streets are lit up with thousands of sparkling lights!

    I've put more pics on a travelogue as I couldn't stop snapping!!

    • Get a boat from Los Cristianos harbour - the whole trip takes around two hours and several run daily. They guarantee you will see whales. Dolphins are not so commonplace!

    We saw around 6 whales and once spotted, they swim alongside the boat, diving in and out of the water as if they are showing off! At least it shows they are not fearful of the camera wielding, adventure hungry tourists who point at them and squeel excitedly - (yes...me too)!!

    • A spectacular inactive volcano. It can be seen from almost anywhere on the island if not hidden by low cloud! It is the highest point in Spain.

    Take an organised coach trip from your resort or drive yourself there. A cable car runs regularly almost to the top, but when we went we had to wait ages - also, it doesn't run if it's windy!

    Don't forget to take a jacket too - it's deceivingly cold after spending time on the sunny beaches below!

    • They may be man made, but they are spacious, clean and close to everything you'd need! In the main resorts on the south of the island, you are never far from a beach to relax on.

    All the facilities you'd expect, such as toilets, showers, sunbeds/parasols and first aid points, can always be found close by.

    • A lovely place to stroll around. The harbour is the place to find boat trips and also the ferry to the nearby Canary island of La Gomera.

    Los Cristianos centre has many shops, restaurants, bars and of course....it's very close to a lovely beach!

    There are several large hotels here and plenty of other choice of accommodation. A fairly lively place, but quieter than it's bigger neighbour, Plays de las Americas. Both resorts merge and are easily walked between.
