Getting TO/AROUND: An experience in itself! Malta buses are frequent, cheap and offer a hot bumpy and usually very crowded ride!

In the main resorts, it is difficult to see a road without a bright yellow bus on it at any one time. They all used to be green, and originally they commenced their life in service in England.

Newer buses are gradually being introdecd, so get on one of the older ones before they disappear for good. You won't forget it!

Transportation: To Gozo by Ferry from Malta

Getting TO/AROUND: Taking a trip across the water to Gozo from Malta is relatively easy. It's a great way to spend a day exploring this nearby island whcih I found surprisingly different to Malta. It is less built up and the scenery is more rugged.

There are 2 ferry terminals on Malta but the easiest (as it is the nearest) is from the very northern most point of Malta called Cirkewwa.

There are frequent crossings but you may have to queue at busy times. Even if you don't get on the first boat, don't worry as there will be another along very soon!

Loading is quick and efficient and the pleasant journey takes around half an hour. There are all the necessary facilities on-board too. The fare is very reasonable even if you take a car. We paid under 26 Euro for 3 passengers plus a car for a day return. You will need your own transport to make the most of discovering Gozo even though it is a small island.

Returning to Malta is an equally simple process and ferry's run until around midnight.
