A Great Place to Stay For a Few Days | Bare arms in February in Nice!! |
Nice, known as The French Riviera is on the south coast of France on the Cote D’Azur. Only a 2 hour flight from the UK, and close to the border of Italy, it is an ideal destination as a short break.
We went for 5 days in mid February and it was warm and sunny. We might have been lucky with the weather though!
The annual Nice Carnival is held at this time of the year, it attracts over a million visitors and is well worth seeing! The emphasis is on flowers! A never ending parade of floral floats over 3 days is fantastic to see. A fun fair complete with a huge ‘big wheel’ is the central attraction at Carnival time too.
Nice has plenty to see and do for a few days. Several museums, beautiful gardens, an open-air tourist train that takes you on a return trip around the wonderful market, through the old town and to the top of nearby La Colline du Chateau for spectacular views across the rooftops, and of course there are the fabulous seafront promenade walks! Plenty of seating along the way to rest a while and of course to people watch! Restaurants are in abundence as you would expect from such an attractive town.
Hire a car for a day and travel across the French/Italian border – at least just to say you’ve been to Italy, and maybe nearby Monaco too! |
