"....and where I met heaven and hell....." Anne-Lieze's Profile
Hi folks, I'm back again.Needed a break and solitude to travel alone and on my own for a while.Have to write my home page now.I'm working on it so patience please and I will tell you more about the more than 42 countries I visited.Got the travelvirus very early and started with old Europe first as a hitch hiking backpacker. Need more luxe now.
Later, I travelled for professionnal reasons.First Egypt and the Middle East than more to the south east to Iran, Irak, Afganistan .Saw Bamian and the last bouchkashi in Kabul.Than came my Indian period, my initiation period of ashrams in India, Sri Lanka and Nepal, a wonderful world to discover, a lot to learn. From Myanmar I crossed the borders with South-East Asia:Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonésia from Sabang to the Papouas in Irian, The philippines, and up I went to the Chinese world with Hong Kong and China.
Indo-China was waiting for me.Here I met hell working with the blue helmets in the minefields of Laos and Cambodia. Still from the poppie fields in Laos through the mine fields in Cambodia to the burned fields of Vietnam, I met wonderful and friendly people to stay with, people who shared their poverty with me ...a wonderful experience of human solidarity. For those reasons I highly recommend these countries.Take the slowboat in North Thailand and go down the Mekong visite Luang Prabang and the caves of Pak Ou and end up your journey at the waterfalls of Dom Khong at the Cambodian border.Real Club Med !Visite the tempels lost in the jungle in Cambodia and leave the big to the tourists.Don't forget the Mekong delta,Ho Chi Minh city and the beautiful beaches of Vietnam. But be careful, listen to the locals, there are still mines. In most airports you can find maps indicating the mined regions....
Yes, I saw a bit of Central and South America:Chile, Peru, Honduras,Guatemala, Belize and Mexico.I loved Copan and Tikal , the coulored dresses of the people, the beautiful landscapes, the terrible landscapes I should say! Waterfalls, lakes, jungle, tempels and ruins lost in the jungle or hidden in the mountains and valleys,it is all there.Haven't been to the lungs of the earth yet.Does anybody has a hint for the Amazonian forest?
Of North America I saw nothing but I went to East Canada to admire the Indian summer and did some whale watching in Tadusac.Saw the big cities:Montreal, Quebec and Otawa.Nice journey in a clean country. Was not used to that after my years in Asia. Alaska and white bears are still on my list. Are there any VT'ers over there to give me some tips 'how to survive in that icy region living in an iglo'?I'm looking for beautiful images like the ones you see in National Geografic without coming back froozen as a snowwoman.
Australia you said? Yes I have staid there for a few month with travelfriends I met years ago.It was a wonderful moment to see them back again and quite an experience. They used to come north to see me so 2 yeras ago I finally went south to live with them for a while. They have a sheepfarm in a by god forgotten region west of Sydney with kangarous all around ! I was lost and taken a back by the distances and space, the hours they spend on the roads just to go to the next shop! But I had a great time. I travelled around a little bit and up north to the great reef barrier and admired the Southern Cross again!
There are the high lines from my travel itinary. What I did recently? Started Old Europe again: Sweden, Finland, Ireland,Spain, Portugal,Germany, Tchequie,Hungary, Turquie and Russia several times, London of course.Yet there is still a lot to see in the European Community.Norway will be my next stop.Hello VT's let me know if you are there.Afterwards? I still don't know But as my travel virus is awake again ........I have to go! Why not take a cargo like the bananas do?Or jump on an icebreaker to have a look on that white, wild and unspoiled (mm)world ??
As for pictures I'm afraid you have to wait for a while for I have no idea how to upload or download a picture.Need PC help! But promise I will work on it.
