Amsterdam is one of the most tolerant places to visit. Leave your judgemental victorian way of thinking at home. When you visit Amsterdam, you live and let live. I love the old world charm coupled with new world liberalism. Where else can you openly buy pot, hash or mushrooms, stroll the red light district on your way to see Rembrandt's NIGHT WATCH hanging in the national museum. I love the architecture. One minute you could be in a structure that is older than the USA itself and the next minute could find you in the newly renovated Van Gogh Museum. I love the trams and the bikes.......just stay out of their way. Just walking around the city gives you an idea of the history and culture of Amsterdam. |
