Florence is a very manageable city. Looking at the map, the streets look like a spider web of short intersecting lines, and you surely cannot rely on every street being listed. that being said, just go outside and take a walk. you will need to establish landmarks like a certain building or any architectural structure that stands out. you may just stay on the main streets, but i find that venturing down the smaller alley ways will lead you to a more culturally satisfying experience. you will see artisans in their shops, building furniture, weaving, making shoes, painting tile and baking. you will see centuries of tradition in these local hideaways, and you will experience the florence that IS and WAS. |

Maurizioago Mon Feb 16, 2009 12:47 UTC I'm visiting Florence in a couple of days. Ciao! | celticmuse Mon Jan 26, 2009 20:43 UTC One of our favorite meals in Florence was a mix of interesting items from Grana's market. Along with some red wine it was delightful and we feasted for less than 15 dollars. |
