i really did get poo on my hand while walking to the eiffel tower. i was walking at night with a friend, our first night in paris. we went to sacre coeur and it was dark. the city was lit with millions of yellow and white specks of light.

so we were off to see the eiffel tower. along the way, my shoe came untied, and when i went to tie it, i was greeted with the stench of fresh poo, and a wet shoelace which left my hand and fingernails corroded with excrement. i found the nearest water source, a garden with a stream, and scrubbed my hands together vigorously. but that did not remove the putrid smell. so we walked along the seine, hoping to find a restaurant or bar, and the first one i saw, i dove into, used the sink, washed my hands about 4 times and left swiftly. (think ace ventura when he realizes lois einhorn is a man). i can say it was the most unexpected and humorous welcome to paris!
