Skopelos

Skopelos is a sweet little island with lovely landscape and a nice harbour village (Skopelos Village) with traditional Greek island architecture.

It's a down-to-earth litttle island that's easily accessible by ferryboat from Volos (an easy drive from Athens or a longer drive from Thessaloniki). The flying dolphin, being the quickest, is the best way to get there.

Outside the main village

There are several places to visit in Skopelos, often having lovely, quiet coves for swimming. The sea is clean and calm.

The food on the island is good--not fabulous, but good nonetheless--and, in general, the whole holiday should be quite affordable. We stayed in a lovely renovated traditional pension with an internal courtyard for only 20 Euros a night (for two people). Most places are right on the seafront in Skopelos Village.

Wander around the Village

Skopelos village is a lovely strolling place, with winding streets, traditional architecture and the occasional Greek cat.
