The semester start bustle is finally over and people are settling down. September and January are hectic in Lund as the new students start pouring in to the city: people are looking for an apartment, walking around the city with a map, sitting in the cafes, and having fun in the endless student parties.
Lund is located in Scania, the southernmost part of Sweden. It has about 100 000 inhabitants, and it is full of beautiful, old buildings. The university was established 1666, and nowadays it is the largest university in Scandinavia with 41 000 students.
I have been in Lund as a graduate student since August 2004. I love the atmosphere in the city. It takes about an hour by train to Copenhagen, so I can pay a visit every time I need the bustle of a big city!
Visit the official Lunds kommun page for more information about the city, and Lund University page for more info about the university.
