This will be a little intro of me and my homecountry, Norway. No doubt it is much beautiful and great travelplaces in the world, but as you probably will agree in, it is much to do and see in your own home country to.
In Norway we have a bit of everything. We have great skiing places in the winter (some places in the summer too), nice bathing places in the summer (but it may be cold) and a great nature with deep forest and high mountains.
My main interests (beside travel) is horses, football, skiining and long walk in the forest or on the mountains. I am so lucky that I can do all my favourite activities not far from my home.
I'm in writing moment 22 years old and study in Trondheim. This is my fourth year in NTNU (Norwegian University of science and technology). I study computer science. And even with a low student budget, I travel as often as I can. So come and have a look of my experiences and give me some tip of where to go the next time! :)

Some of my interests.... ...is animals. I' ve had two ponies and two horses. But right now I just ride an another girls horse twice a week. It is too expencive and take too much time to have my own horse when I study. But the interest is still strong, so maybe I buy one when I'm finished school! I've also had some cats, dogs and a rabbit. And in the summer we got a new dog. He is the cutests dog you ever seen!!!! I promise! :) |
| A small lake not far from my home | Hometown For the moment I live in Trondheim. It is one of the biggest cities in Norway (that dosn't mean it is big, remember, Norway is a small country!). I love the city with all its opportunities right outside my door. But my heart will allways belong to my hometown, Vestfossen. It is located in the south, about one hour from our capital, Oslo. It is a tiny town with about 5000 citizens. The great thing about this place is that it have beautiful nature all around it. We have lakes of every size, mountains (not so high, though), big forests, skiingtreks in winter and plenty bathingplaces in summer. This may sounds like we never see other people beside the ones who live here, but that is not true. Vestfossen may be small and surrounded of nature, but it is a short travel to several big cities. So, you can say we have the best of two worlds! :) |
| Me and my friends in Trondheim | FRIENDS It's hard at times to keep in touch With those who mean so very much. But, side by side or far apart, True friends live within our heart.

| "Brrr, this is what I call cold water!" | Summer in Norway Summer in Norway is the best! As long it is sun.... And that is unfortenately not too often. It is much great bathingplaces not far from my home. We have small lakes in the middle of the forest, bigger lakes by the main road and a short trip to the sea. So, whatever you fancy, you will find it! The water tend to be a little cold in the begining of the summer. But once the sun get some weeks to warm it up, it usually holds about 20 (plus/minus) degrees.
Well, it is luckely more to do in the summer than just bath. :) If the rain pores down one day, it is great just sitting inside with a good book and a cup of warm chocolate, looking at the raindrops streaming down the window... |
| Skiing in the christmas holiday | Winter in Norway Norway has a great winter, for those who like snow! I am so lucky to be one of them. I learned pretty early both cross-country skiing and downhill skiing. My favorite is without doubt, downhill skiing. It is a skiing centre about 20-30mintues drive from my hometown. It also is one about half an hour from where I study. It is great not have to travel one or more days! The skiing centres is not very big and don't have much treks, but i love them anyhow! Around Norway it is a bunch of great places to go skiing. I'v been to some of them, but still a lot to vist. Around my home in Vestfossen it is many great places to go cross-country skiing. The nature is great in the sunset on a clear winter day. I love the winter, just wish it didn't have to be so cold! I norway the winter temperature (there I come from) can go down to 25 minus degrees. But it is usually warmer. If you don't want to go skiing, the snow can be used to much more. You can build a snowman or a snowcastle. And you never get to old for snowballfight! |
Lines Composed In A Wood On A Windy Day My soul is awakened, my spirit is soaring And carried aloft on the wings of the breeze; For above and around me the wild wind is roaring, Arousing to rapture the earth and the seas.
The long withered grass in the sunshine is glancing, The bare trees are tossing their branches on high; The dead leaves beneath them are merrily dancing, The white clouds are scudding across the blue sky
I wish I could see how the ocean is lashing The foam of its billows to whirlwinds of spray; I wish I could see how its proud waves are dashing, And hear the wild roar of their thunder to-day!

| "You, the dogs and complete stillness" | Nature, mountains and forest The nature in Norway is great. It looks a lot like the nature in "Lord Of The Rings" movies. Fjords, Mountains, forest, sea and lakes is the keywords.
South in Norway you will find the the coast and the ocean. All the way by the coastline you can visit small, cosy villages. They are quite special, with small white houses made of wood and really narrow streets. On the harbour you can buy fresh fish and seafood from the fishboats. A great thing to to (for those who like seafood) is to buy fresh prowns and cold beer, and sit on the harbour just looking at the boats and the people.
East of Norway you will find forest, not so abrupt mountains and some bigger citys. You will for example find Oslo (the capital) here in east. The forest are great for skiing in the winter and walking tours rest of the year. It can be really beatiful looking out of the forest in the autumn, with red, orange and yellow colors everywhere. The mountains of this part of the country is great for walking, because they aren't so abrupt as those further north. There are usually marked tourist paths you can follow. If you like fishing, buy a fishing card and bring with you your fishing rod. You can't miss some of the quiet little lakes on your way.
In the west there mostely are fjords and mountains. You will see the mountains raiseing straight up from the water. Sometimes I wonder how people actually can live in those hills. From the top it will looks like the water are more green than blue. That is because of the clay from the glacier that is still melting. I recomand you find yourself a guide and join a tour on one of them. It will be worth your money!
In the north of Norway you will find some of the same landscape as the western part. But the mountains here is younger, that means that they are much more abrupt. The landscape is wild but beautiful! In the summer you will see the midnight sun. That means that the sun never set. It actually are sunlight 24 hours a day! In the autumn and winter it is a lot of northern ligth. It is just beautiful when green, purple and red belts of colors play around on the nightsky. Most pepole visit north-Norway for a wildlife adventure. Some of the activitys you can choose from is mountain climbing, rafting, hiking, riding a dogsled, riding a horse, hiking on a glacier, whale safari or just looking up on the beautiful northern ligth and let your thoughts fly away... |
