Is New York really in the Desert?

by KarenTaylor - last update: Aug 29, 2004

View of Vegas from Eiffel Tower!
We stayed in Vegas for 4 nights, and I can honestly say that I have never been to anywhere as hot in my life! We used the city as a base to go to the Grand Canyon and to Hoover Dam, but if I ever visited again, I would try to do it at a different time of year. That said, there isn't much that interested me about this city...I know that some people go back again and again, but I prefer cities with a variety of things to do, and looking in hotels doesn't do it for me. Some of the hotels are of course spectacular, but it's all false. Not nasty, just not me.
The trip to the Canyon was worth living in a sauna for...I'll never see anything so breathtaking in my life.
There were a lot of families in Vegas, including children in pushchairs, and I cannot see the attraction for young children. Almost al the hotels we went into were smokey, and there are signs everywhere that people under 21 are not allowed in the gaming areas. This was largely ignored however.
