Traveling what a beautiful thing ! I have traveled a lot during my life, I have visited until today 38 countries in this planet. By the way, Arthur C. Clark said we call it improperly earth when it is clearly an ocean. Javier Reverte says : " Travelling is a way to create and make you free ! ".I believe that travelling is a way to escape of the botherings and frustations there is in our old Europe that is oppressing us. I have noticed that during my several travels speaking with many europeans I met during my trips. Examples ? Many ! A swiss garimpero (Gold seaker) from Martigny in Amazonia, an austrian from Vienna in Rio de Janeiro, a belgian living in Recife, a french who maded a chiringuito in Natal and many others…. All those people have a common denominator : the discovery of other things, other experiences and new cultures. Some of you are considering us as instables but on that I reply with this sentence : -" The people who wants to make roots, it is because they have a tree spirit. Do you have ever seen something more boring, more disturbing, more vegetal than a tree ? "(AlbertoVazquez-Figueroa)

A french intellectual said a very interesting sentence:
"The flights are cheap and the borders are open, let's take the opportunity to travel."
The communists regimes had falled a little before than the Berlin wall, and the humanity returned to have hope of a safer world with the possibility to build a world of freedom, tolerance and communication between all the peoples. It does not happened. The Balcanic wars, that showed us again images of concentration camps and ethnic cleaning, large refugees convoys and massive killings. And the "NEVER AGAIN!" that people said after WW2 became "AGAIN?" .
We saw that back then that the world of the cold war, the bipolarized world by 2 empires, at least was a garantee a certain planetary balance and avoided an advance of hate and injustice. One of them falled down and, the other, became the protector of the law and the universal order. Also the protector of freedom...., the freedom to attack Irak, as an example.
All this is not an analyze of the world but to reach at a sad conclusion: The flights still cheap, but the borders are starting to close. Already there is a territory in the world, the regions of Central Asia- between Irak and Pakistan, where it started to became a zone of very long tensions, a large zone of the planet in war crisis because of the Al Quaeda menace and the expantion policy of president Bush. It is sad to think of a planet in fire, and also it makes us angry what it can't be, what has quite be possible to be but not. I am referring to the freedom to go where we want to go. The guys who invented borders created simply a way to charge fees and only with time became a way of political control.
I believe that it was at the beginning of the 20st Century that the concept of visas, passports and sanitary controls began. And many countries around the world closed the doors to the citizens of other countries only for political reasons. The citizens always loose all the battles....
Now the U.S. imposed us a special passport since last year. I suppose also that there is some countries that will not let enter occidental citizens. And maybe soon they will suggest where it is convenient to go. Maybe bad times to travel will soon come
I sincerely hope not!!!
