Dubrovnik is home to one of Eastern Europe's most beautiful, if not THE most beautiful, Old Towns. The entire Stari Grad is built from limestone and surrounded by a wall to defend the city from Ottoman invaders. The central plaza of Stari Grad was laid in marble, adding to the majesty of terra cotta roofs, ornate architecture, sunny weather, and azure waters. There are plenty of good Adriatic seafood options, as well as a moderate nightlife that goes on later outside the walls of Stari Grad than inside. |
