Theoretically, I love to travel. In practice, it seems I rarely organise the kind of long-haul trips I daydream about. I dislike organised trips and seem to wait for a good excuse to travel - like visiting a friend who's living in a distant country. Although on occasion my friends have left the distant country before I could get my act together...

But I 'm not complaining. After all, I have managed to visit India four times (Delhi, Agra, Darjeeling, Calcutta, Orissa, Tamil Nad, Bombay, Kerala) and even got as far as the rainforest in Northern Australia.

In 2004 I started preparing to go to Africa for the first time. In my quest for information I came across VT and decided to join (thank you to all the travellers who wrote something about travelling there!). But I hit a glitch - my travelling companion was unable to come along after all - and I decided not to go by myself just yet.

A few years later, I finally managed it. Only two weeks in Ghana, but what a great two weeks! There really isn't anything like travelling.....
