  • American bucks get you a four star hotel at discount prices. No joke. I think I spent about $60 a night and got a king size bed, a great view, a nice area with a couch and a couple of chairs.

The rooms are very nice. The webpage has a good look at one. They are very spacious and comfortable. The A/C was good. It kept me cool even though it was a very hot day. Plus, they gave me complementary breakfast and bottles of water. There is a KFC and a McDonalds across the street, but this is China, so eat at one of the local joints around the corner. Or, the Hard Rock cafe is a ten minute ride by taxi.

This is my favorite hotel in China. The service was way above what I got in Hong Kong or Shanghai. Cheaper too!

Unique Qualities: The Sports City Cafe is a sports bar to the extreme. The tour guide I befriended lost to me at a game of basketball on the court in the middle of the bar. It is totally geared towards the West, but locals come there too.

In addition to that, there is a formal dining area, and breakfast is served on each floor.

There is a gym, a pool, Sauna, Beauty Salon, Massage Centre and separate lounges equipped with televisions for ladies and gentlemen. Travel and business facilities are also there. They can arrange airport transfer, tours of the city (and great wall) and even hook you up with plane tickets.

There is a subway stop across the street, and a direct route west will lead you to the Palace Museum and Tienanmen Square. Great location!

I agree, the carpeting were visibly dirty, but other than that - no compliants. Overall, a very nice hotel.

Now that scam on Chinese medicine is new! Do they only do that to non-Asians? Hope that had not given Chinese medicine a bad name in your eyes! Nice pages; hope to make my way to Beijing one day. It's only time. Cheers!

Really great page Kevin. Makes me think I need to get my beijing page done finally: I was there to see in the millennium. Am off to see what other delights you have in store on your travel pages.
