Holiday Inn - Hatchobori: Holiday Inn - Hatchobori

  • Satisfaction:
  • Ok, this is a bit more expensive than the average traveler wants. But it is so worth it if you are not familiar with the city. As a frist time visitor to Tokyo, I cannot reccomend enough having someplace familiar to call your home base.

The holiday inn features the usual pool, bar, restaurant, hair dryer, air conditioning, paper outside the door in the morning, tv, thing. The best part about it though is its location. Hatchobori is a safe area, with a lot of places to eat, shop and visit near by. It is a central location where Ginza is a 25 minute walk, teh Tskiji fish market is a 10 minute walk and there is a subway station less than 20 yards from the door. If you love noodles, and I know you do, there is a Yoshinoya right across the street, and a 7-11, and AM-PM around each corner.

Unique Qualities: The most unique quality was the Suntory Whisky dispenser in the hallway near the elevators. For only a few hundred yen, it's Suntory time! I loved watching little Japanese kids buying whisky. It was funny.

The Hatchobori station is on the same line as the Ginza and Roppongi. It is a nice central location where most of the sites are a quick taxi ride away. And unlike many of the other stations, this one doesn't get too busy.

Being a larger and slightly more expensive hotel, you also have a larger selection of tours available to you.

  • What can I say. This is the best hotel I have every stayed in. You can do a lot of things within three blocks of the hotel and feel like you haven't seen everything there is to see there.

The price is a bit steep. 24,000 yen and up for a double room. That's around 230 US Bucks. Luckily I had the company paying for it at the time.

The rooms are amazing. You can get themed ones, I got a music theme. The bed was soft, the rooms quiet, and the service was unparalelled anywhere I have ever been!

I also had an amazing ten restaurants to chose from while I was there. My favorite was the Korean restaurant Bishamon. But there were a variety of places to eat. Including what could be the last Sizzler on the planet!

More importantly, it is the hotel from the movie Lost in Translation. So a few of the bars and hallways will look familiar to movie fans.

Unique Qualities: There are a lot of unquie things about this hotel. It is 43 stories tall, making it one of the tallest buildings in all of Japan. The view is fabulous, especially at dusk when the city lights are on, and the sun is just settling below the sky and light is still creeping over the horizon. Amazing.

There are 10 restaurants, a child care facility, internet ready rooms, A/C, easy subway access, and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in!

Plus, you can get themed rooms in music or sports themes! They are a bit more pricey, but if you are going to spend this much for a room, you might as well go full tilt anyway!

I think I can guess what you're trying to say but I must say your comments are not quite true and might give people wrong idea about Japan. Chi? You mean Ki? Many Japanese do not associate with Ki.

Is it cool having your ratings reduced ? A waste of so much hardwork that benefits so many
