A Celebration of a Lifetime | An elephant in the city of Jaipur |
A country where everday is a festival, a country with 1 billion smiles. welcome to India, welcome to my Home........
India needs no introduction, and it cannot be bounded by one particular set of definitions. India amazes, surprises and frustrates, but everyone is bowled over by its incredible diversity and cultural heritage. From Kashmir to Andamans, from Arunachal Pradesh to Gujarat the regions are different, the people are different… but what binds all these tremendous diversification is the nationalism & the single united thread named “India”
India is also home to the Hottest, Coldest, wettest & Driest regions in the World. From Himalayas to the north to Indian Ocean in the South, from Cheerapunji in the east to Thar desert in the west the country is blessed with geographical diversity, unmatched by any other nation on earth. |
| Taj Mahal - Truly a wonder of the world |
| | India is beyond Bollywood, Yoga, Curry, Snake Charmers. This land transcends the synonym of Diversity.
Behind the misnomer of poverty that people attaches to India, this nation has much to offer the world. India is among the largest donors to UN releif funds and aid programmes. It had a glorious past, a thriving present & a promising future. India's finest hour is about to come ! For me India epitomizes the local villager who grow food for us, the soldier who protects the sovereignty of the nation & educated elite who makes our country stronger. A common man is what India is all about .

History of India
India is one of the oldest continoulsy living & surviving civilisations on the world & is often referred to as the birthplace of Humanity. Its existance dates back to before 2300 B.C.
India was referred to as the a golden bird in its ancient times, a civilsation rich in every aspect, which lured travellers and sailors from all over the world. Traders use to come for trade of Silk, Spices, Indigo and Cotton. India was under British rule for almost 150 years, before India got its Independence from British empire on 15th. August 1947, thereby setting the sun on the british empire. Although Independence also led to the partition of India into East Pakistan ( Now Bangladesh ) & Pakistan were created on religious grounds.
India is the birthplace of 4 great religions, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism & Jainism which today form the faith of 25% of the worlds population, but it is quiet incredible to know that India remains a secular nation with no official religion adopted, inspite of the fact that it houses the world's largest Hindu population & the second largest Muslim population ( after Indonesia ).
India is flanked by Indian Ocean in the south, Bay of Bengal in east, Arabian sea in west. Nation is sorrounded by various countries : China, Myanmar, Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Maldives, Pakistan & Afghanistan.
Problems faced by India
By far the biggest problem faced by India is population control, besides that Illiteracy, Cross border Terrorism, Pollution & Natural calamities are also the problems faced by the nation at the moment.
Indian Economy
"India is now 10th. biggest world economy" - World Bank
Today India is world's second fastest growing economy. India attained economic & agricultural self sufficiency in mid 1970's, and is among the world's 10 most industrialized nations ( in terms of its Industrial & technological self dependency ) it now boosts as the IT & Knowledge capital of the world. In terms of its economic activity its the 4th. largest economy.
India is among the world's 8 super powers & 5 space powers. There has been a talk to include India & China in the group of G-8 nations to be renamed as G-10 nations which itself endorses India's tremendous economic dominance in the world.
India is also a strong powerhouse in Agriculture, Biotechnology, IT, Entertainment & Nuclear science. It is often referred to as the Knowledge capital of the world. India enjoys as a status of among the world's 3 biggest think tanks. India's economic growth since 1990's have been phenomenal, that's why its often reffered to as "The Great awakening of the Tiger"
India enjoys cordial relations with almost every country of the World, in particular India maintains its utmost good relations with Russia ( its long standing ally & friend ) South Africa, U.K., France, Israel, Singapore & Japan.
India's relations with its neighbors, Pakistan & China are not so cordial primarily due to the long standing border disputes. But inspite of the coldness, India is trying to maintain good relations with these two nations and infact the relations are beginning to warm up again. A country sorrounded by hostile neighbours has forced India to become a huge military powerhouse which is although in the national interest of the nation, but a lot of money is being pumped into defense instead of the developement of basic infrastructure.
But I can see an emerging India, a rising India whose power will have to be recognised & appreciated by the world & will fast gain an important place in world arena.
