We live near here.

Carshalton has always appealed to us, as even though you're still considered a part of Greater London, the air is cleaner, you feel like you're actually almost in the country, and there's still enough within walking distance that you're not that cut off. Plus there's good rail links into Central London, with regular trains, taking no more than 40 minutes for the longest journeys.

Carshalton has many little cafe's, the ponds, it stands at the end of the Wandle Trail, a walk following the River Wandle from the Thames southbound, and is most famous for lavender.

There are many lavender fields nearby, one of which holds an annual lavender picking day, held at allotments in Carshalton on the Hill, while another larger lavender field exists near Banstead, apparently at the same site where lavender was harvested back in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Happy birthday, Jo. Which way is Carshalton from London? I will be in England in about five or six weeks and might want to add your lavender fields to my itinerary.

appreciate . Just general street and houses. We plan on blowing up the kid's pictures of friends and adding them to the mural. My wife has nixed me blowing up the three weepy kids :) I do appreciate it and thanks in advance for your kindness. Matthew
