"The Secret Garden-- Under the Sea" Apo Island by Juds
Apo Island Travel Guide: 13 reviews and 37 photos
Not able to reserve a boat in Bais for Dolphin watching, we decided to go to Apo Island instead. I thought it was settling for the second best to do but it turned out to be a very unforgettable experience, a must do when visiting Negros Oriental. The trip to the island was uneventful, but the way back was scary. The tide was changing and the waves were really big. It was like riding a roller coaster. I was drenched by sea water splashing as the boat hit the big waves. The trip however was not the most unforgettable part. It was the Marine Sanctuary. The coral reef was the most beautiful I've ever seen. (I must say though that I've only seen a few-- Coron, Anilao, Boracay, Ilocos, Rapu-rapu, Balicasag) The corals were very colorful and fully grown. The water was clean and clear. There were plenty of different fishes. I was very happy to see a villlage of clown fishes. It was really breathtaking. The mangrove forest at the sanctuary was also mature and makes a good canopy and entrance as we walk toward the sea. There were no toilet facilities but I guess it's intended so people will not stay long enough to ruin the place. I read that millions of dollars were spent to build and develop the Sanctuary. It's worth the investment. Will definitely go back!
- Pros:Clean and clear waters, corals are truly amazing!
- In a nutshell:The Secret Garden under the sea.
