Fremont Street Experience: The Freemont Experience
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Freemont Street Experience is a light and music show that goes on from 7:00 PM through midnight. Freemont has been closed to traffic and there are vendors with all types of souvenirs and gifts. The street has been covered with a network of lights and a computer runs various scenic shows while appropriate music is played.

The best to place to watch this, is the balcony (2nd Floor) of the Fitzgerald’s with a tasteful cocktail. BUT GET THERE EARLY to get a seat on the balcony. (FREEBIE)

    Bellagio Fountains: Fountains at Bellagio
  • Tip Rating:
  • Every evening, a water and music show plays again and again in the spectacular fountains filling the quarter-mile long lake in front of the Bellagio. The show runs every 15 minutes or every half hour, depending on the time of year (the fountains are still in high winds). The fountains' pattern, which varies with the season, is choreographed to a number of different pieces of songs, which last between 5 and 10 minutes.

Best time to see this is at night. It is very calming especially if you’re sitting in traffic on the strip. Best place to watch this is on the balcony across the street at the Venetian. (FREEBIE).

    Stratosphere: Stratosphere Tower
  • Tip Rating:
  • At 1,149 feet, the Stratosphere Tower is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States and the tallest building west of the Mississippi River.

From the observation decks, lounge, restaurant, meeting & banquet space and private dining rooms, guests enjoy panoramic views of the Las Vegas Strip and the surrounding valley.

Best time to see this is at night. It is a long elevator ride, and for those who are afraid of heights I warn you now, you wont like this. The tower moves 6" to each side and you CAN feel it. It took me awhile to walk away from the door. (Yes I am scared of heights). The views are breath taking. It also very peaceful up there. ($9.00. You can find a coupon for this)

Lake Mead / Hoover Dam: Hoover Dam
  • Tip Rating:
  • Rising more than 700 feet above the raging waters of the Colorado River, it was called one of the greatest engineering works in history. Hoover Dam, built during the Great Depression, drew men desperate for work to a remote and rugged canyon near Las Vegas. There they struggled against brutal heat, choking dust and perilous heights to build a colossus of concrete that brought electricity and water to millions, transforming the American Southwest. A National Historic Landmark. What else can I say?

It is truly amazing to think that back in the day, this was built on time and under budget with limited resources. (Remember there was no OSHA at the time). I would recommend that you take the tour. If you plan to take the tour, read up on the making of this dam and watch the video on this. You will appreciate the tour a bit more. However the tour is not necessary. You can still see the beautiful massive dam for free. The dam separates two different time zones (Pacific & Mountain).
