Echternach is the oldest town in Luxembourg,it's right on the German border, there is plenty of parking on the ring road round the town, then it's just a short walk into the City ,,most of which is pedestrianise. It is an ancient city, still with many roman remains, and old churches, also one of Europe's earliest centres for Christianity. You will find in the big square the St Willibrod Abbey and museum. On the edge of the city you will find many well kept walks and a lake with a recreation centre. We arrived on a Tuesday not the best day to visit as this is a rest day, so most shops are CLOSED. |
