| | 30th Wedding Anniversary Treat Remich is right on the Mosel, one side is in Luxembourg, and the other side, being in Germany. We stayed on the Luxembourg side, our first visited here was back in 1986. The place has since undergone major re development and I must say for the better. There was a big car park in the main town centre, now they have put a large square with a band stand for festevals and other gathering's. Next to this used to a campsite, this now is the main car park. Remich is not a particularly pretty place, but it is pleasant and the main street along the Mosel is a nice place to walk . You will find cafes and restaurants to suit all taste along this stretch of the Mosel. This is the place to get your duty free, there are many shops selling wine, beer, liquor and tobacco. Fill up your petrol tank, I always find this to be the cheapest place in Europe, with it's borders being close to France and Germany you will always find it busy. Take the bus into the capitol Luxembourg, they run frequently from Remich you will find them near to the boat station. We had always wanted to stay at the hotel St Nicolas, as we stayed here on our first visit, it was also the nicest hotel we had ever stayed in, so being that our 30th wedding anniversary was coming up, we decided to return and treat ourselves to night of luxury on our way down to the Black Forest . |
