Great middle of the road pick... and other Doha, Qatar Hotel/Accommodation Reviews

The Movenpick is a chain of Swiss hotels found through out the world. The one located in Doha is not as flashy as the Ramada or the Sheraton located along the Corniche. I prefer the Movenpick because you get a great room with exceptional customer service and it seems like they actually appreciate your business more than the larger hotels. They also have an outstanding breakfast menu with an in house chef that can prepare special meals for you. Theire in-house restaurant has special nights (such as Steak night and Chinese night) and the best by far is the Italian night. And I used to live in Italy! So choose the Movenpick for a low key, high quality stay.

Unique Qualities: Excellent service.
Great in hotel restaurant.
Not a tourist trap like some "other" hotels.

While not exactly in Doha (closed to Mesaieed), this is an excellent place to visit if you want a trip to the beach with everything taken care of. This beach resort has just about everything you could think of. Tennis courts, two pools, horse and camel riding, wave runner and four-wheler rentals, a world class buffet, and an excellent bar. Add top notch service to this and you have just a great place. As you might have guessed, all of this does come at a price, but the prices are actually quite reasonable in that you get everything you pay for and then some. This is my #1 choice for getting away from the bustle of the city to just relax (as noted by the Dave matthews lyrics at the top of the page).

A caveat before I get started here: I've never spent the night at this place. I have visited and I have talked to other people who have spent the night here and I got the gist that they were satisfied, but they expected more for their money. Ramada usually has high standards, though, so I can't imagine that they would suffer poor quality for long. I always stay at the Moevenpick, so I'll have to do a night at the Ramada to give you guys an accurate rating.
