    • Probably one of the most famous parks in the world, but somehow many visitors to London manage to miss this wonderful place. Greewich Park is only a 20 minute train ride from central London, yet offers a whole new experience. You can lounge on the large grass commons, canoe on the water, watch the deers, visit the clocktower which governs 'Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), play in the playparks or just eat an ice cream and enjoy the view!

    Jump on a train from Charing Cross, Waterloo East or London Bridge to Greewich train station. From here just ask anybody around for directions to Greenwich Park, its about a 5 minute walk.

    • The Horniman Museum was created by an adventurer, called...er...Horniman! The museum houses weird and wonderful artifacts brought back to the country by Mr Horniman from his adventures and expeditions all over the world. You are able to see some wonderful things that you wouldn't see at a conventional museum. The museum is large, and also houses different exhibitions throughout the year. The best thing about it is that entry is free!! Take a train from Charing X, Waterloo East or London Bridge to Forest Hill station.

    • Blackheath common is one of the few truly open spaces in London. It is rumoured that during the black plague in London, around 400 years ago, a number of the dead were buried beneath the heath. This is where the name 'black'heath comes from. Could this be why no one has dared to build on it? In summer the place is heaving with people, who come to enjoy the open grass, or have a pint in the open. You can catch a train from any central London terminal to Blackheath train station.

    • The Thames Barrier is an unusual sight in London. A state of the art barrier on the river Thames, charged with the responsibilty of keeping London from flooding. When you visit the barrier you can really get a sense of how huge it is. An interesting sight, which is off the usual tourist trail. Worth a visit!
