London, my home town, I love it and hate it at the same time! But even I have to admit that the good aspects of London definately outweigh the bad. There is always something to do or see, there are so many clubs and restaurants that you could probably go to a different one every night for the rest of your life and employment opportunities are high. London has to be the ideal tourist or backpacker destination. There are so many sights to see, clubs to go to, London experiences to be had and, for the traveller, jobs to get. However, there are drawbacks to London. Prices are sky high, the weather is...English, and crime can find you every now and again. But don't let this put you off, check out my travel tips for loads of great places to check out on your trip to London. |
| | OUTSIDE THE SQUARE MILE Although most people who come to London do so to see the obvious sights and do the obvious things within central London, such as go to Trafalgar Square or ride an open top bus, there is so much more to see. Only a short train ride will take you places like Chelsea, Brixton or Greenwich. Places such as these have much more to offer than many tourists think. Visit my tips pages for more information on places such as Greenwich Park (left) |
YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE FOOTBALL When in London there are some things that, if you want to experience real London culture, you simply have to do. These include sipping a pint at a traditional English pub, going to the Theatre (not my cup of tea), and going to a football match. It is hard to get a ticket to see the big London football teams play if you're not a member of the supporters club, but there are still a number of London clubs that you can watch play, and the atmosphere at these smaller clubs is second to none. | | | The Valley - Charlton Athletic FC |
