Barcelona is on Spain's east coast, on the Mediterranean Sea. It is my favourite city in the world, or at least out of the cities I've been to! I have only been to Barcelona once, which I will be adding to as soon as possible, but I fell in love with the city. There are loads of things to do in Barcelona, but the highlight of my trip was my visit to the Nou Camp. This is where Barcelona FC play their football matches, it is the biggest stadium in Europe and is absolutely amazing.
The famous artist Antonio Gaudi was from Barcelona, and his art dots the city. Part of his legacy is the Cathedral "La Sagrada Familia", shown below. It is impressive both from the outside and the inside. Another famous artist is also showcased in Barcelona. The Museu Picasso houses a lot of Picasso's early work, but also has work from different later periods, such as his Blue and Pink Periods. |
| | STREET PERFORMERS & FLEA MARKETS One famous section of Barcelona is Las Ramblas, the pedestrian-only streets. They are filled with street performers, small market stalls, some sidewalk cafes, etc.
There is also a bird market. One end of Las Ramblas is the port, where you can see the Monument a Colum (Monument to Christopher Columbus), pointing out to sea.
The people of Barcelona are friendly and the women are beautiful. When I was there I didn't see one unfriendly face and everybody seemed willing to help me out. The women in Barcelona are among the prettiest I have ever seen, even if their Catalan dialect meant they couldn't really understand my limited spanish! |
| | THE CITY Another neat neighborhood is the Barri Gotic. It has a lot of narrow streets, tapas bars, squares. The Cathedral and the Palau de la Generalitat are found here.
The nightlife in Barcelona is typical of Spain and most Spanish cities. People come out late and party until late. There is therefore a healthy number of clubs and bars in the city, so you can socialise 'till the early hours.
The Catalan region of Spain is known for its food - and seafood. You can't leave without having tried a paella and sangria. |

Belsaita Tue Apr 10, 2007 16:57 UTC Hola from Barcelona!! Good page, but please note that Catalan is NOT a dialect of Spanish (no politics there, just linguistics, it's different enough). However, everybody here do speak Spanish... so these beautiful women were just pretending, LOL!! | codrutz Wed Aug 18, 2004 22:20 UTC Again a great Page from Lucky Luke :) I love Zoos :) Nou Camp is infinite :) I like the Sagrada Familia .. indeed unique.
