Tourist Trap: Tangeros
  • Tip Rating:
  • If you go to San Telmo, be prepared to be asked constantly for money. Kids usually work in the weekends around the park and the cafes.

At Least Do This: If you really have to go to San Telmo try to go in a weekday. The cafes are empty and lovely. There's always a gentelman singing tangos in the middle of the square and you might get to see somebody dancing!
Alternative: As I said before try to go in a week day and have a coffee in the main square.

Tourist Trap: Charity in Florida and Lavalle
  • Tip Rating:
  • Be aware of any guy that aproaches you while in Flordia or Lavalle (both pedestrian streets).
They will hand you a calendar, card or even your zodiac sign trying to be chatty and "nice"
They claim to represent either charities helping hungry kids, artist collectives or single moms organizations. Do not trust them, ask to see their credentials and if they get nervous and call you names just aproach a policeman or enter a shop. If you really want to help out local organizations, its much more helpufl to contact the local Red Cross or any organizaion helping out Street Kids.

At Least Do This: Walk Florida and enjoy the shopping experience but ignore any person asking for a coin.
Alternative: Missing a stroll in Florida is just out of the question,. However, Lavalle is totally no big deal and if possible avoid walking in Lavalle. There's really nothing interesting to shop, eat, see or do along the entire street.
