Mountains seen when arriving into Liechtenstein.
Liechtenstein is one of Europe's five micro states, meaning that it's both very small, and there isn't very often a reason to go there.

So when Sweden was about to play Liechtenstein in a Euro 2008-qualifier me and a few friends thought it would be a good idea to take the chance to see the Principaly in the Alps.

All in all it was a five day-trip, with two days spent in Vaduz, and three in Zürich. Vaduz, with it's 5000 inhabitants, was for me a very nice surprise, with the great views, the fantastic weather, and the nice result in the football game.

The most famous landmark of the capital Vaduz is the Vaduz castle, which we of course had to climb up to.
Argh... don't do that with a hungover is my tip...

At first we had trouble to find a hotel in Vaduz that wouldn't force us to rob a bank to be able to afford it, but in the end we stayed in a very nice hotel in nearby Triesen, 7-8 minutes taxi ride from Vaduz.

The other micro states in Europe?
Andorra, San Marino, Monaco and the Vatican state in Rome.

Pros:"The weather, the views, the beer."
Cons:"The expensive prices."
In A Nutshell:"Very happy to have been here!"

"The weather, the views, the beer." - and you'll get cheap prices, good wine and the world's most sports mad country - see you in Oz some time. Oh, and thanks for the quality tips.

Since you don't like rosé which kind do you prefer, white or red? Excellent tip on the taxis - hilarious! Love your "Sunshine against the Mountains" photo - gorgeous!

Henrik, fabulous page about Vaduz. Brings back memories of my day here. I have also been to the Old Castle Inn, but unfortunatley didn't see a footie match. Well done ... :-)
