| One of the nice bridges in Dublin |
Four days in Dublin was far from enough. The party, the atmosphere, the bulmers, the people - I just have to get back very soon again!
Prepare yourself for a huge party when you get here. The Irish sure knows how to party! Have never seen so many drunk people at the same time. Specially the women for some reason...?
So, if you're one of those person who gets pissed when you see guys standing at the side of the street, pissing, or get chocked when girls are so drunk that they seem to have forgotten even their names - Dublin isn't maybe the city you should visit... ;)
Or at least not the Temple Bar-area...
But Dublin is so much more than just the Temple Bar-area, and even if I had way too little time to really explore the city, just one afternoon-stroll in the center was really nice.
There were lots of things to see, but I also enjoyed the calmness. It didn't feel like I was in a capital in a European country.
Had heard a lot about the Irish incredible friendlieness before I got there. And was really looking forward to see if it was really true. But to Marpessa, and to everyone else who might care - it's not like you just walk into a bar and person after person just ramble onto you, chatting, buying you beers and so on.
That only works if you're a woman...
For us deadly men it's the same as everywhere else. If we want to talk with someone, it's up to us to start the conversation.
But yes, it was much easier to start a conversation in Dublin than in many other cities I've visited.
If I'll go back there again? Of course. As soon as I can!
UPDATE MARCH 2007: Back again in the capital of party for a few more days. Had another fantastic time, with more Bulmers, more party and more headache in the mornings...
Also had time to do some shopping this time (my poor VISA-card will never be the same again...) and even managed to find St Patricks cathedral! :)
Finally, once and for all: can we please kill the myth about the the incredible hospitaly there is said to be in Dublin...? People here aren't more friendly than in London, Milan, Rome, Berlin, Oslo, Gothenburg or even my old hometown Kungsbacka... :) NOT saying they are unfriendly, but it's the same everywhere. If you start talking, people will talk with you. Not the other way around... |
| Tolka Park, home stadium for Shelbourne |
| | Football Yes, of course I got some time to see some football when I was in Dublin too. Otherwise it wouldn't have been a real trip...
Irish football is far from the best in Europe, to say the least, but I saw a really good game with Shelbourne, probably the most famous team in Ireland. Nice atmosphere, good game, Shelbourne won, and the two women that sat two rows lower than me were the most beautiful I saw during the whole trip...
What more is there to ask for at a football game? :) |
