The famous Venice

A weekend in the northeast of Italy...? Well, of course I had to stop by at the famous city Venice.
To get rid of expensive hotel-nights I decided to stay for just a bit more than five hours, but still I had time to see a lot!
My impression of Venice is divided in two, since the canales and bridges was fantastic, including also the Piazza Marco and the surroundings.
But as soon as I got away from the canales I got more negative. The houses were old, in the way they look like no one has been living there for a long long time, and it was quite depressing to see this. I though Venice was much nicer.

Not talking about the typical tourist-traps, including the high prices of everything, from food and drinks to boattrips.

In all together, I'm very pleased I went there, but I won't cry for the rest of my life if I never get back to Venice.

Pros and Cons

Pros:The channels and the bridges
Cons:The prices and the parts of the city which seems to fall apart any minut
In a nutshell:Nice to be there, but I don't know if I come back

Henrik, That is quite a story about your getting lost in Venice. I had a friend who got lost in Siena. She too did not take her map. It is like a maze there as well. Could be quite scary especially as evening was approaching.
