I was here for a week in Nov 1997. The hotel was good and the staff were friendly. The pool are is nicely set out and the terrace overlooking it is great for watching the sunsets over the Nile. In the evening they serve great Crepes here. The rooms were recently done up at the time I was there and they were clean, good size and comfortable. There was only a small gym in the hotel but that may have changed since 97. There were 2 good restaurants and other facilities such as a pool table etc. It was a little bit out from the main centre of Luxor but it is only a short taxi ride. As I was ther ein 1997 things may have changed and the hotel may bhave developed since that time so it is probably worht checking more recent reviews. I would recommend it based on my time there and if I was going to Luxor again would definitely look it up as part of planning my trip.
Unique Qualities: The terrace area at sunset was great especially those crepes ..yum ! ANother interesting feature was that at dusk the sparrows used to roost in large numers in the trees just below the terrace and hawks used to circle overhead and make an occasional dive to try and nab a stray sparrow ! They weren't even safe at night...one night we were having a beer on the terrace and a white Barn Owl swooped from no where an nabbed a sparrow. Although you have to feel sorry for the sparrows its all part of survivial and it was like being the middle of your own Richard Attenborough documentary !

davesut Wed Jul 4, 2007 22:34 UTC Happy Birthday Joe, good pages here. Are you afraid to tell us your age? Are you as old as the temple at Karnak?!? | uglyscot Tue Jul 4, 2006 06:14 UTC Yes, beggars and salesmen are a nuisance , but remember most Egyptians are living at well below subsistence level compared to the west, so the tissues boy may be helping to support a large family. A polite 'shukran', and move on. | Mariajoy Sun Nov 6, 2005 06:42 UTC Excellent page Joe - great info - it's the harrassment from street sellers that puts me off places like this. |
