Warnings Or Dangers: Toronto Traffic
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Wow! I thought traffic in Texas was bad (ok, it is). Toronto traffic is just as bad as the major Texas cities, so I guess that sense I felt right at home. Haha!

Warnings Or Dangers: Toronto Highway Concrete Barriers
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • The Canadian highways are a little behind the times (in terms of engineering), and this was painfully obvious to me during one of my trips. Traffic was stopped in *both* directions on the QEW because an 18-wheeler lost control and broke the highway barrier, killing like 6 people and destroying about 4 vehicles in the process. How does this correlate? Well, in the US (esp. in Texas) the barriers are made of concrete and have reinforced steel bars. The Toronto concrete barrier contained wood that reinforced the concrete. Unfortunately, the wood wasn't enough to stop the 18-wheeler. I doubt this would happen to a conrete barrier in Texas (but I could be wrong).
