Tory Island

It's amazing really that the government have continued to allow people to live on Tory as I'm sure it must be inaccessible at several times during the year, either by boat or flight. Anyway, thank god they do and they haven't chosen to evacuate everyone like they did with the Blaskets or Inishark during the 1960s (if I remember rightly) thus rendering Irish island life a thing of the past. There are not many small island communities left now so show your support and try to visit the smallest ones! Tory will probably survive due to fact that they had a substantial pier constructed some years ago which has enabled them to continue as a community which can be 'serviced' by the authorities.

You will be met from the boat by the King of Tory - he welcomes you with a handshake! Then you can just spend the day or days meandering around the island discovering its delights. See Sourbugger's pages regarding the hotel etc.
