"The Nile in my veins" Egypt by Faracy

I don´t have a scanner yet, so the pictures will have a wait a few weeks.
I went to Egypt, thinking I would only go to Cairo, see the Pyrimids, the museum, and then leave... No, this wasn´t meant to be...
After abruptly leaving Israel, I took the first bus I could get to Eilat, then took a taxi to Taba, and then found some other English speakers and we all huddled together in what I would call a bush taxi (no doors, Michael Bolton tape playing, no roof type of jeep) and got to Dahab.
Had I been alone, I would have been terrified... I saw jackels running across the road that looked like they were out of my Egyptology books, and the landscape of the Sinai is like a dreamscape.. like another planet.. tragically beautiful.
We slept in a little hut hotel with bug powder on the beds.. (I think the powder was worse than the bugs.)
Went snorkling in the Red Sea... yes do this, its cheap and wonderful. Then made the mistake of climbing Mt. Sinai that night... ok climbing Mt. Sinai wasn´t a mistake, but that was an awfully long day... you start at about 2:00AM so you can be at the peak by sunrise... more on this later.
I then decided to see more of Egypt.
I was soon on a bus and train and got to Aswan.. a lovely town. Then I took a felucca up the Nile to Luxor.. my favorite place so far in Egypt.
