For the traveller who wants to stay fit, Palestra Club Delfino is an excellent choice. When I visited -- a cold and wet Venetian day -- the club's warm staff, cheerful decor, and upbeat music were a godsend.
Although the club occupies a small footprint, it is well-equipped. A full range of cardio and resistance equipment from Technogym is available, along with the usual assortment of freeweights and racks.
The Technogym equipment is particularly impressive. At Club Delfino, a member can record and analyze every aspect of his workout -- every exercise, set, and rep -- electronically. Such amenities come with a price, however, as my one-day membership cost nearly ?20.
While the club offers towel rental, it does not supply shampoo or body wash. Remember to bring your own.
