Paris: In Any Season, For Any Generation

When it comes to Paris, there are lovers and there are haters. Most Paris haters say that the Parisian rudeness is what prevents them from visiting (or re-visiting) the City of Lights.

I don't think Parisians are in general a large group of rude people. It's true that they can be aloof, they are not very patient, and they definitely have high expectations of everyone with whom they interact in a professional setting (including tourists). I would not call their stance rudeness, just as I would not call the immediate and overt friendliness from Americans "intruding". A little peek into other cultures may provide some shred of understanding.
Paris is a sample of Old Europe; Old Europe is like your great-aunt's tea party, where you have to wear a nicer dress and have behaviour that is more formal. It may be a tiny bit stifling at first, but after an hour or so, you will actually enjoy sitting with your back straight and using a silver fork to cut the teacakes into morsels. Your great-aunt is from another generation and her culture is slightly different from yours, but she is a wonderful person and can be very charming if you do not hold her old-fashioned manners against her.
In the travel tips section, I've written a few things that may help make your first (or second) encounter with Paris a bit smoother. I hope you will read it and find it useful. I also hope you will have a wonderful visit to a city that has forever held my heart. Most of all, I hope you will love it as much as I do.

Your Pere Lachaise Cemetery tip was beautiful - I "felt" with you! Personally, I love that place - very peaceful. I always have to stop and say "Hello, I love you" to Jim Morrison...

Your photos of la Tour Eiffel are stunning. Would love to know what settings you used to get the beautiful "sparkly" one!

From the center of the city, how long did it take for you to walk here?
