Hồng Ngọc 2: Great Hotel In Old Quarter

Thanks to Hien's recommendation, I came to stay in Hồng Ngọc 2 while in Hà Nội. The hotel is located in Phố Cổ or Old Quarter, a few minute walk from Hồ Gươm (Hồ Hoàn Kiếm) and Chợ Đồng Xuân.
There are five Hồng Ngọc Hotels, ranging from one to three stars. Hồng Ngọc 2 is ranked two stars but we would not know it.
The hotel is attractive, the decent size rooms are spotlessly clean, the furniture is beautiful, and the decoration is tasteful. Besides the two antique armchairs, the room comes with A/C, two safes, and a small refrigerator/mini bar. The bathroom is always shiny; the deep tub is good for either a shower or a soak.
Although the hotel was full to maximum capacity and all 40 rooms have wood floor, it was quiet the entire time we were there, there was no noise to be heard, not noise from the guests, and not noise from the busy streets outside.
The hot breakfast that is included in the room rate perfectly satisfied our stomachs each day with congee (rice soup), sauté vermicelli and/or noodles, steamed vegetables, eggs, pastries, fruits, yogurts, fruit juices, coffee, and tea.
The all male staff is utmost courteous and capable, during our five- day stay, all of our needs were provided immediately and even the most time consuming request (searching for available seats on an earlier flight, changing the flight, going to the airline office to pay the fee and pick up the tickets) was realized without an hesitation.
My sister and I paid VND 350,000 (US$22) for a double room and there is no doubt in our mind that the value we received exceeded the cost. In my next trip back to Hà Nội, Hồng Ngọc 2 will be the hotel I'll select again; there is no need to search for another accommodation.
