Off The Beaten Path: A Walk In The Wood
  • Tip Rating:
  • A winter walk in the forest is an experience that is very hard to match.

Snow changes the shape of trees. Snow covers vegetation in heavy coat. Snow drips into stream. Snow turns stones into masses of boulders. Snow mutes everything but your footsteps. The world completely stands still and all your senses are lost. It is hard to tell how long the walk has been; perhaps you have been walking forever, perhaps only one-half of an hour. Then you see a light and you walk toward it, only to find another part of the forest.

You think there is nothing there but you and snow, but actually, there are many things there, many different types of trees above head and many different kinds of plants underground. You feel as if a blizzard is coming, but it is only a slight breeze and a flurry of snow falling from the branches. And then it is another silence, and you continue to walk.

Great overview of Soll , But I would suggest you move all your tips (except the mexican restaurant in Ellmau) to the Soll page. As for myself I've seen better villages in Tirol than Soll ,but than it holds a special place in my heart.

Nice start, and I am surprised they didn't ask you to clear the table away also... Regards Jasen
