As all the Ibis, this hotel offers the same dependable characteristics one expects from the chain: clean rooms, good beds, functional furniture, strong and abundant hot water. The absolute quietness throughout the hotel and the pretty view of the park outside our window belie the fact that the hotel is located only five-minute walk from Ostbahnhof. The hotel is newly built, there is not a smudge to be seen anywhere. The room is larger than the standard Ibis and the bathroom is twice the size of all Ibis hotels we have stayed in Germany. The spacious shower unit is covered with tasteful and modern tampered glass. Our bed is queen sized -- an unusual and very pleasant bonus.
The staff is extra accommodating. I asked them to call Mercure Berlin Mitte just to see if our daughter had checked in. They did not just promptly agree to my request but also put me through her room. The call could easily cost us several Euro but they graciously told me it was free.
