"KEYS DISEASE!!!!" Key West by wjstallings

I absolutely love this island. When I'm not in Key West, I'm thinking about my next visit...When I'm there, I don't want to leave. There is something about this place that makes me feel at home. I would love to one day it that!

This is not a place for everyone. It is not a big beach place...It is a laid back paradise with lots of interesting history and plenty of friendly people.

The people of this island have always found a way to make money and that makes for great history - Indians, Pirates, Wreckers, Spongers, Cigars, Military, and now Tourism.

The town is a toruist city now; however, "Old Town" Key West has kept its small town feel. This are is full of little shops and nice restaurants. I do feel the Wendy's, Burger King, and Banana Republic are WAY to "normal" for "Old Town". I don't want to eat or shop franchise located in almost any town. I want something unique. I heard rumor that an ordinance may be passed banning any franchise (not locally owned) with more than 3 locations from setting up shop in Old Town! I am a Huge fan of this.

• Pros:Better in the off season - without the large crowds.
• Cons:Crowds during the peak season.
