Beijing is a city under construction as it ready itself for the world stage in 2008....Full of historical sites, great food, awesome shopping......this is must do for a world traveler !!!! Don't pass up the chance worth every penny spent !!!!! Don't believe the myths you hear about China.....it is AWESOME !!!!!! Since everyone is trying to sell you something... everyone speaks English, Spanish, and even French !!!!! The menu's at average restuarants have pictures and English sub-titles.....and it is soooo cheap !!!!!!! Signs and directions are in English just about everywhere you go !!!!! and if you can't find it....just say nee-how and show them where you want to go, and believe me someone will tell you or take you. Probably the best trip I have ever had !!!!!

Update May 2009:

Beijing is still is city that is under construction, but not like it was 3 years ago, my first time there, the best part of the city is the new subway lines opened and the secuirty at the subways.....also Beijing has under gone a huge clean up of garbage that used to line the streets, now the city is clean with people all over the place picking up garbage left thrown around. I must say the prices have gone up quit a bit, but don't get me wrong if your a westerner the prices are still cheap, bring a an extra bag or buy an extra bag, becuase your gonna need it here !!!!!!

Oh, and another thing BRING your WALKING shoes !!! or just buy a pair, because boy your gonna need them !!!!!!!!!
