The Yu gardens as it's known is a great place to spend a couple of hours looking around and enjoying yourself with the shops and people trying to sell you things. Remeber cut the price by at least 80% when trying to buy something. Everyone speaks English so don't worry about the language barrier. The tea house in the middle of the pond is crowded and a bit expensive, but take a look !!!! Well worth the trip here !!!!!

I must say this musuem is on par with any musuem in the world. The Lourve in Paris, The MET in New York, The Prado in Madrid. It is one of the best musuems in the world !!!! Come with plenty of time, there is 6 floors with interconnecting rooms. You name it they have it when it comes to the Chinese culture. All the signs and directions are in English. The staff is as helpful as they can be. I must say this was one of my favorite places in all of Shanghai. But be forwarned, when they close they rush you out literally in 5 minutes. Guards come in a yell, and tell you out, out .....I'm sure they could find a better way of telling you to leave, but they were effective...the whole place was cleared out in 5 minutes !!!!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT !!!!!

I do have to say, whatever side you decide to check out it's worth it. From the Bund side you have just a jawdropping view of the Pudong skyline and from the Pudong side you have a great view of the Bund Historical buildings. One of the few places that your not trying to be sold any items in your face. Soda's, beer's and even pictures are avaiable from various vendors's in there stalls, but overall it's a nice walk, felt safe both during the day and night !!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT....one of the world's coolest sites !!!!!!

This temple complex is intresting and worth the bit out of the way location, but remeber the transportation is soooo cheap that it won't hurt you in the pocket to come here.......several large pavillons cover this temple area with the Jade Buddha statue at it's center piece, one must buy a seperate entrance and no photos are allowed inside the area of the jade buddha. Leave about 1 hour to see the entire complex......well worth it !!!!!

I do have to say sometimes tour books over rate a section for no apparent reason, and this is one of them. It's a huge pedestrian street lined with department stores, prices are ok, but it's not as cool as one think it is. Ok for a stroll, but here is where you be approached with "hello do you speak english, and I'm a college student and we have an art exhibition" lines. If you have the time then come down here but don't make it a top priority if not you'll be disappointed !!!!!
